Taslima Nasreen

I read in the newspapers today that Taslima Nasreen's visa has been extended by the Indian government by only 2 months. In my opinion she should be given a permanent visa to reside in India.

Several bigots and fanatics have hounded her ever since she wrote her book 'Lajja'. I have read the book. It only depicts the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh after the demolition of Babri Masjid. There is nothing against Islam in that book.

She had to flee for her life to India, but even here the bigots and fanatics hounded her. Evidently writing about the persecution of Hindus is anti-Islamic, according to these fanatics and bigots.

I think it is time now to charge sheet and try in Court these bigots and fanatics, and if found guilty these criminals should be given long sentences of rigorous imprisonment, because nothing else will bring them to their senses.

  1. Yup Taslima nasreen should be given permanent visa to reside in India. Otherwise there would no difference between India and other countries.

  2. Let's face it, India is no United States where people flock to for a good life. She is persecuted and wants to be geographically close to her motherland. Purely on humanitarian grounds it should be a no brainer for the mandarins of North Block.

  3. I have disagreed with your viewpoints a number of times, but have to admire the courage you have shown to stand up for Taslima, and against the bigots. Bravo!

  5. The same very orders which are believed to have been obtained on extraneous considerations do not get stayed or reversed when appealed on priority. If the higher judiciary is so concerned, it should set up example by demonstrating a mechanism whereby such corrupt orders do not survive longer than the time it takes to appeal

  7. Justice Katju's voice has been heard by the Union Government and appropriate action is taken. Justice Katju should continue to do his good work.
