Where I differ from Beena Sarwar
Beena Sarwar, though a Pakistani, is like a sister to me, because although she was born in Karachi, her parents were from Allahabad ( they lived in Katra ), which is my hometown.
Beena is one of the most highly respected journalists in Pakistan She spends half her time in Boston, U.S.A. with her husband..
Beena is a very brave person and is totally secular. Where we differ, however, is that she wants good relations between India and Pakistan, whereas I believe that this is living in a fool's paradise because there can never be good relations between India and Pakistan since the very purpose of creating Pakistan as a theocratic state was to ensure that there is no peace and instead Hindus and Muslims keep fighting each other.
In fact Pakistan, is a fake, artificial entity ( I refuse to call it a country ), which was created by the British on the basis of the bogus 2 nation theory, to ensure that Hindus and Muslims keep fighting each other and there are never good relations or peace ( see my article ' The Truth about Pakistan '.online and on my blog justicekatju.blogspot.in. It was also published in the Pakistani newspaper 'The Nation ' ).
This serves two purposes (1) It ensures that India remains backward, and does not emerge as a modern industrial, giant, like China, of which it has now all the potential with its huge pool of technical talent and immense natural resources (2) the foreign arms purchases by India and Pakistan continue. India presently buys over 40 billion dollars arms from foreign countries every year, and Pakistan also buys a huge amount. Much of this huge amount of money could go to the public welfare, but then what would happen to the profits of the foreign arms industry which live on wars or war tensions. ?
What is Pakistan ? It is Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan , and NWFP. These were all part of India from Mughal times. So Pakistan is really no country.
When I meet my Pakistani friends I feel no different from them. We look like each other, speak the same language Hindustani, and share the same culture.( love for Urdu poetry, Hindustani music, etc ), the same food habits, etc. In fact we are one, and have been artificially divided. In foreign countries Indians and Pakistanis meet and socialize as if there never was any Partition. Partition is only in our sub continent.
We were befooled by the Britishers into thinking we are enemies, but how much longer must we remain befooled ? How much longer must blood flow ( and it will keep flowing until we are reunited ).
Some people say that Partition took place in 1947 and we cannot put the clock back. But Germany was reunited after 45 years. China has still not recognized Taiwan, and regards it as part of China ( which indeed it is ).
So I keep telling Beena, who will remain my sister whatever happens ( because Allahabad unites us; she may not have drunk the water of the Sangam but her parents have ) : Don't live in a fool's paradise. By saying that there should be good relations between India and Pakistan no doubt your intentions are good. But in reality you are befooling the people by turning a Nelson's eye to the truth, which is that the two nation theory on the basis of which Pakistan was created was bogus, Pakistan is a fake entity, and if there are really good relations the very purpose of creating Pakistan, which was to ensure hostility, will disappear.
The only solution to the problem is , as I have been repeatedly saying, reunificatioin of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh under a strong, secular modern minded government which will not tolerate religious extremism of any kind, whether Hindu or Muslim,, and crush it with an iron hand, a government which will rapidly industrialize our country and provide prosperity and a high standard of living for our masses, that is, providing everyone a decent life by abolishing poverty, unemployment, malnutrition, etc and giving everyone  good healthcare and education. and ending discrimination against any section of society
