This is an email I received recently. Those NRIs who are thinking of going back to India should carefully read this before making up their minds. I have deleted the name of the sender
Hi Sir,
I'm an ardent follower of your blog and your explanations about the everyday topics are very clear and logical.
I think what you have said about India is very true. We say, cow is sacred but a the same time the same cow is left to eat plastic and eat garbage. We talk nonsense like Pushpak Viman existence and more. We are making a laughing stock of ourselves.
I left my green card and came back from USA in 2008, thinking that I could do something interesting in India. However, after coming back within 1 year I realized that this place is full of corrupt politicians, lazy people who don't want to work but cheat others to get money and more.
The biggest problem for this country is its population. Of the 120 crores, at least 80 crores are worthless. For example if you take a street that is 1KM long, we can see that on this street we have about 10 pan fellows, 3 restaurants, 3 shops selling provisions on departmental store and more. Added to this we have hawkers occupying the footpaths and even the corner of the road. Do we need this kind of setup and so many people? In the past 60 years, the govt could not control the population, when companies like Nestle are helping the govt to reduce the population by slow poisoning why is there such a hue and cry?
I also do not believe Gandhi is the father of the nation, especially after reading your explanations I got a clear vision. We got freedom without a real war and anything that is given for free does not have its due worth, and this is exactly the case with the freedom that India found. Unlike other countries that fought for freedom, we got it for free. We don't know the real value of freedom.
I agree with you, this country is undergoing drastic changes, but that change will take not 15 years but 50 years or more. Even after that there is no guarantee that it will be like America. The reason is that America is a matter of policies and India is a matter of caste and feudal rituals.
By the way your samajwad poem is not so good, if I were a teacher I would give you 2/10 for the poem. Some where on what's app someone sent me this "Badnam to keval daru hua galib, warna kidney aur liver ko to Maggi ne bhi kharab kiya". Now this is a good sher. What do you say?
Best Regards,
