The problem with many ( not all ) Bengalis is that they think they alone in India are the embodiment of all culture, the bhadralok, and all other Indians are their inferiors in the matter of culture.

And I have often found a streak of chauvinism in many Bengalis. If one rationally criticizes Subhas Chandra Bose or Tagore or Bankim Chandra or some other Bengali icon, they will go after him hammer and tongs.

Are these icons ( whom I regard as false gods ) holy cows or the private property of Bengalis ? Is no one allowed to critically and rationally assess and analyze them ? Just because a person is a Bengali is he above criticism ?
