Valentine Day
Valentine Day will be celebrated on 14th February, and so I am expressing some thoughts.
Many people in India oppose celebrating Valentine Day, saying it is part of Western contamination of our culture. They forget that while there are many good things in our culture,there is much that is rotten too, e.g. casteism.
My own opinion is that there are many good things in the West, though there are also many bad things. We should not reject all Western things, e.g. love marriages..
I am in favour of love marriages for two reasons
(1) Why should my life partner be chosen by my parents.? Since it is my life, I should have the right to choose whom I have to live with.
( 2 ) Love marriages will break down caste and religious barriers, and thus help in national integration.
